Rover
UI Redesign
The purpose of this project was to redesign an existing product by creating a style tile and mockups of the native app, mobile site, and desktop site.

Problem
The lack of user control make finding and booking a pet sitter unnecessarily time-consuming.
Audience
Busy pet owners looking for pet sitters and services.
Goal
Redesign the pet sitter search and results interface to increase user control.
Role: UI Designer
Tools: Figma
Timeline: 4 weeks
Background
Rover is an online marketplace that provides pet-sitting services for over 1 million pet owners.

Rover audit
I audited the Rover app and website using Neilsen Norman’s 10 Usability Heuristics for UI Design to identify ways in which the user interface could be improved. My primary focus was to increase User Control and Freedom and improve Aesthetic and Minimalist Design.

User research
The goal of my research was to understand which interface components worked well for users and which components could be redesigned to improve usability. I asked Rover users to rank the importance of pet sitter information (e.g., price, rating, profile photo, tagline, location) when deciding whether to book a sitter.

Design process
Wireframes
My designs align with Rover’s existing branding while creating a minimalistic interface that features information most important to the users.

Next steps
Learning outcomes
My next steps are to design prototypes that create a flow for searching, selecting, and booking a pet sitter through Rover. I will test the usability of my flow using click testing, recording the time it takes users to complete the flow, and task success rates.

I learned the value of ideation and sketching prior to prototyping. Creating wireframes of my ideas helped me ensure that my designs were consistent across each layout so the user would not have to relearn the interface when switching between their phone or computer.
